Easy On The Ivy: Japan Edition by Tom Hoy is a complementary zine to the Easy On The Ivy Substack. The blog explores the heritage, culture and global influence of Ivy League style through deep dives, interviews and personal reflections, and the zine sits alongside it as a physical extension of that same world.
When Tom visited Japan for the first time, the trip felt too special to keep purely digital. A zine felt right, not long enough to be a book but long enough to spark the imagination and maybe inspire anyone planning their own visit.
Influenced by Japanese magazines like Popeye, 2nd and Free & Easy, Tom wanted to create a small piece of print that nodded to that tradition.
It is not a Tokyo guide. There are no restaurant lists or nightlife suggestions here. But if you are a menswear obsessive, you will find a handful of shops where calling them worth a visit hardly does them justice.
The zine is anecdotal, sharing Tom’s trip through words, photos and the stories that stayed with him. It acts as a more tactile companion to the writing he normally does online.
