This model faithfully reproduces the 1945 U.S. military chino trousers. While most classic chinos are known for their flat-felled seams and slanted pockets, this version stands out as a rarity even among vintage pieces. It features metal front buttons stamped with “U.S. ARMY” and double-welted pocket openings, adding both durability and authenticity. The cut is high-rise with a generous, wide silhouette, true to the originals.
During World War I, soldiers typically wore breeches in a jodhpur style, but by World War II the standard had shifted to a trouser (slacks) design. Officially adopted by the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1937, the early versions of these trousers received poor reviews from soldiers. To improve quality, the military brought in private manufacturers, leading to refinements and the development of several variations of the military chino. This 1945 model represents the result of those improvements: rugged, practical, and timelessly styled.
